She quickly moved up the ranks, beginning with roles in children's theater before singing in front of an audience of thousands. Swift started writing songs in the teen years. She performed The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers NBA game. Swift created original music which was influenced by country artists such as Shania Twain (now known as the Chicks) as well as Dixie Chicks. Her material expressed Swift's feelings about tweens and the feeling of alienation.
