Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar was an American and British sitar artist. She was awarded the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and the first female to receive it. Apart from nine Grammy nominations She was also the first musician of Indian origin to present at and perform during the ceremony live. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her childhood years included a period of time between London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13 she staged her first show in New Delhi. She then moved in Encinitas CA, where she received the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha even though she is just a teenager, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. Her father was with her on numerous occasions for some time. Her debut self-titled album Anourag in 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. The stage is a very significant part of her work. She's played in many important venues across the globe. Anoushka isn't only a singer. She released Bapi The Love of My Life in 2002. It is a biography that pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she starred as a character in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka Shakar's profession will only continue to grow and expand. We are looking forward to seeing many interesting things coming from her. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her youth living between London and Delhi later relocating to California in the state where she attended the high school. When she was 9 She began studying music with her father. Her debut performance on the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of knowledge by traveling the world together with the father. She performed in Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. As a tribute to her status as an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
